Hannover missed an opportunity to pick up their first win of 2015 after being pegged back by Hertha Berlin for a 1-1 draw on Friday night.

Christian Schulz gave the Lower Saxony hosts the lead 15 minutes from time, but Valentin Stocker levelled matters inside the final 10 minutes to leave Tayfun Korkut's men still without a win since December.

As a result, they could see their advantage over the bottom three reduced to a single point this weekend while Hertha moved one point closer to the four their coach Pal Dardai said they still need to survive this season.

Korkut was once again backed by his club to lead them away from danger, but it remains to be seen how long their patience will hold.

His side started well, creating a few good early opportunities but, as has so often been the case this year, failing to convert their supremacy into goals.

Hertha spent much of the opening half an hour defending, waiting for an opportunity to present itself on the counter-attack, but when they took their first in the 15th minute, with John Anthony Brooks scoring, the goal was ruled out for offside.

That nevertheless gave the Old Lady confidence and they started to put their hosts on the back foot, Genki Haraguchi testing Ron-Robert Zieler as the nerves started to creep into Hannover's game.

Korkut clearly chose the right words at half-time as Hannover emerged for the second 45 minutes as they had for the first, showing that little bit more urgency.

Hertha were making more of a game of it by now, not just sitting back and letting Hannover attack, resulting in an open encounter that was pleasant on the eye.

It became even more pleasant for the eyes of the Hannover fans when Schulz was on hand to turn the loose ball in after Salif Sane's header was only parried by Thomas Kraft.

Hertha countered and levelled eight minutes after with Stocker providing an acrobatic finish to beat Zieler and earn his side a point, much to the disappointment of the home fans who had been preparing to celebrate a rare win.
