Augsburg scored three second-half goals to claim their fifth home win in a row and leave Hamburg in the Bundesliga's bottom two.

The Bavarians had to come from behind to seal a 3-1 victory after Rafael van der Vaart had given Hamburg the lead just before half-time.

Halil Altintop levelled before Raul Bobadilla and Paul Verhaegh with a penalty sealed the points for Markus Weinzierl's men.

Having beaten Werder Bremen last weekend, there was a new air of confidence about Hamburg, but the wind could have been taken from their sales after only 15 seconds had Markus Feulner's shot been a fraction lower.

Instead, Josef Zinnbauer's men started to look threatening, with Van der Vaart shooting narrowly wide of the right-hand post.

Artjoms Rudnevs went close with a header as Hamburg continued to create chances, but they suffered a setback 10 minutes before the interval when defender Heiko Westermann was forced off with an injury.

It did not affect Hamburg, though, and they went in front on the stroke of half-time when Rudnevs put Van der Vaart through to beat Alex Manninger.

Augsburg's response came five minutes into the second half when Altintop turned Nikola Djurdjic's header in from close range and 10 minutes later Weinzierl's men took the lead.

Tobias Werner sent Baba down the left wing and his cross was met by Bobadilla, who held off Johan Djourou to put Augsburg in front.

The writing was on the wall for Hamburg when they conceded a penalty with 20 minutes left.

Captain Verhaegh, flawless from the spot on his four previous attempts this season, stepped up to send Jaroslav Drobny the wrong way and clinch another home win for Augsburg.
