Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara has a number of injury concerns ahead of the visit of Aberdeen to Tannadice.

Jarek Fojut, Keith Watson, Aidan Connolly and midfielders Chris Erskine and Calum Butcher are all rated doubtful for Saturday's game.

McNamara said: “We are still waiting on a few of the boys who have picked up tweaks and aches. They are feeling either their hamstrings or ankles. We will give them all until the last minute to prove their fitness.

“Aberdeen at home is always a game to look forward to and I think it’s going to be a sell-out. They are in good form just now and they, too, will be looking forward to the game. I think it’s a great fixture."

United assistant boss Simon Donnelly added: "The squad is really strong. The training has gone up a level in the last few weeks.

“Boys are now looking at it and seeing a real chance to make the starting XI. Likewise the guys who have got the jerseys know they have to be at the top of their game to keep it. It’s great from our point of view - it’s almost like having two teams."

Aberdeen lost 3-0 to Dundee United at home to the Tangerines on the opening weekend of the Premiership season in August.

Reflecting on that result, Dons boss Derek McInnes said: “I probably picked the wrong team, but United showed what they are capable of and they deserved to win the game.

“We didn’t look like ourselves but I’m not going to make excuses. They took advantage of a mistake in the first half and played clever football to make the most of their opportunities.”

The Dons, who have lost only one of their last six league games, can move level on points with their hosts for the first time this season with victory at Tannadice.

McInnes said: “We know they are a good team in form themselves trying to stop us but we believe we have every chance of getting a result.”
