Walsall had to settle for a point in a 0-0 draw with Bradford at the Banks's Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The closest either side came to a goal was when Saddlers skipper Adam Chambers saw his thunderous stoppage-time drive brilliantly saved by Jordan Pickford. It meant both teams remain unbeaten so far and Pickford, on loan from Sunderland, played a major part in keeping out the impressive hosts. Walsall enjoyed the majority of the possession but could not break down a rugged Bradford defence in which centre-backs Andrew Davies and Rory McArdle were rock steady. In the first half Ashley Grimes volleyed over from a good position, while Mark Yeates and Billy Knott were off target for the Bantams. The Saddlers pressed hard in the second half but needed smart tackles by debut teenager Liam Kinsella and James Chambers to deny City striker Mason Bennett, on loan from Derby and making his debut. With time running out big James Hanson looked like scoring for the visitors when he got his head to a Yeates cross, but he failed to get enough power behind it and Richard O'Donnell saved easily.
