Lorient secured their Ligue 1 status with a 1-1 draw at Nantes.

Papy Mison Djilobodji's own goal put Lorient ahead and even though they were denied victory by Johan Audel's equaliser, Sylvain Ripoll's team are now guaranteed to be playing top-flight football next season due to Evian's defeat to St Etienne.

Lorient had scored nine goals in their previous three matches and it took just four minutes for them to open the scoring on Saturday night at the Stade de la Beaujoire.

The goal owed a lot to fortune, though. Romain Philippoteaux beat his marker and swung in a deep cross which Djilobodji accidentally sliced into his own net.

Lorient's celebrations were short-lived as Nantes equalised just over a minute later. Audel leapt high to beat his marker and nod in Serge Gakpe's corner for his first goal in five months.

Lorient looked to hit back straight away. Waild Mesloub blasted a 30-yard free-kick towards goal, but Nantes goalkeeper Remy Riou was equal to the challenge.

Riou was called into action again soon after when he saved from Jordan Ayew, who had been released down the right by Lamine Gassama.

After the break, the tide turned and Nantes were the team on top.

Jordan Veretout found Yacine Bammou in the box, but his right-foot shot was saved by Benjamin Lecomte.

Bammou again found space in the box just after the hour mark, but once again Lecomte denied him, tipping wide.

Nantes were safe in mid-table, but they did not hold back in their search for a winner.

They could not find a way past Lecomte though. The Lorient stopper made a stunning save to deny Georges-Kevin Nkoudou late on.

Raphael Guerreiro had a chance to nick all three points during a rare Lorient attack three minutes from time, but his left-foot shot flew just over the bar.
