French Ligue 1 report: Bastia struggle in new surroundings

Bastia found few home comforts in their relocated clash with Guingamp as they were held to a 0-0 draw.

Ghislain Printant's side were forced to host the match against Guingamp at the Stade Parsemain in Fos-sur-Mer, instead of their Stade Armand Cesari home, after crowd trouble against Nice on March 7.

Bastia dominated for long spells in the second half, with Abdoulaye Keita and Floyd Ayite both going close, but they were not able to make it count.

The draw leaves Bastia in 13th on 37 points after 30 games and five clear of the drop zone, while Guingamp have a little more breathing room on 39 points and are three places better off.

Gael Danic had the first real sight of goal for the hosts after 10 minutes, when his curled free-kick forced a good save from Guingamp keeper Jonas Lossl.

As it sparked into life the visitors started asking questions at the other end, with Sylvain Marveaux volleying Thilbault Giresse's centre with venom, but Bastia keeper Alphonse Areola managed to scramble it clear with difficulty.

Both sides had further chances but Francois Kamano was thwarted by Jonas Lossl and Areola bettered Christophe Mandanne in a one-on-one duel just before the half-hour mark.

After the break Bastia turned the screw as Guingamp wilted as an attacking force and Keita was inches away from opening the scoring after 53 minutes.

Kamano put the 21-year-old into space 20 yards from goal, but the midfielder's measured strike from distance sailed just wide.

Ayite almost broke the deadlock twice around the hour mark but first saw a close-range snap-shot go agonisingly wide and then the Bastia striker forced a good diving save from Lossl.

Danic tried his hand again 10 minutes from time, but Lossl was again on hand to frustrate him and ensure it ended goalless.
