Nice's worrying slide towards the foot of Ligue 1 continued on Friday night as they went down 2-1 at home to Guingamp in a match played behind closed doors.

Christophe Mandanne scored twice for Guingamp, putting them ahead in the 49th minute and then restoring their lead moments after Eric Bautheac's 57th minute equaliser.

The defeat means Nice, without a win since January 23, have taken only three points from their last seven matches, and they could find themselves in 17th place by the end of the weekend should results go against them.

The match was preceded by a moment of remembrance for the victims of the helicopter crash in Argentina that killed 10 people including French Olympians Alexis Vastine, Florence Arthaud and Nice-born Camille Muffat.

But it was already a muted atmosphere with the match being played behind closed doors as punishment for Nice fans letting off flares in January's derby against Marseille, and that seemed to translate onto the pitch with the home side looking desperately short on confidence.

Nice created a string of openings, but failed to trouble Jonas Lossl in the Guingamp goal, with only one shot on target other than Bautheac's goal.

Most obviously wasteful was Neal Maupay, who went clean through on goal in the 36th minute only to fire wide.

Guingamp capitalised thanks to a star performance from Mandanne.

He headed them in front in the 49th minute, powering Reynald Lemaitre's sublime cross home.

Then, moments after Bautheac levelled, Mandanne volleyed home for his ninth goal of the season.

Guingamp started the night only one point clear of Nice having likewise lost three on the bounce - but they will sleep much easier than their opponents having moved up to 10th, nine points clear of the bottom three.
