Monaco maintained their push for a Champions League spot with a comfortable 3-1 win at Evian.

Leonardo Jardim's men conceded just their second goal in 11 league games but that will not be of too much concern as they moved to within six points of third-placed Marseille with a game in hand.

Anthony Martial, a Kassim Abdallah own-goal and Almamy Toure had Monaco 3-0 up before Modou Sougou grabbed one back for Evian, who are three points above the drop zone.

Evian had the first chance of the night as Mathieu Duhamel released Adrien Thomasson but his powerful strike from 25 yards was saved by Danijel Subasic.

And it was the visitors who took the lead after 18 minutes as Layvin Kurzawa came forward and played

a beautiful through-ball to Martial who slotted home from just inside the area.

The injured Yannick Carrasco was then replaced by Dimitar Berbatov and the Bulgarian helped double the lead 10 minutes before the interval.

Joao Moutinho gave him the ball and the former Manchester United striker beat two defenders and rounded the goalkeeper before his strike went in via a deflection off Abdallah.

Berbatov was involved again three minutes after the break as he and Martial combined to allow the Frenchman to fire a shot on goal but Benjamin Leroy was equal to it.

It was 3-0 on the hour when Martial's corner caused chaos in the Evian box and Almamy was on hand to pounce.

Duhamel had a shot saved by Subasic in the 76th minute and two minutes later Evian had their consolation as Cedric Barbosa centred for Sougou to apply the finish.
