Goalkeeper Johnny Placide's last-gasp error saw Reims go down 2-1 at Lyon and gave home manager Hubert Fournier a good night against his former club.

Placide, who was earlier helpless to prevent Corentin Tolisso's opening goal for Lyon, could not keep out Alexandre Lacazette's ambitious shot from a tight angle in the final minute.

That proved the undoing of a lot of good work for Reims, who had looked set for a point after Benjamin Moukandjo levelled up before the interval.

Fournier was able to enjoy a win against the club he left after five years to take over the reins at Lyon in the summer, and the victory also moves Lyon back up to third in Ligue 1 just behind Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain.

Fournier's men were looking to bounce back after a 3-0 defeat at St Etienne last week ended their 10-match unbeaten run, and they came flying out the blocks, drawing first blood after just six minutes.

Tolisso ghosted into space at the far post with a late run to nod Nabil Fekir's pinpoint free-kick home for his second goal of the season.

Placide was left stranded by the superb delivery and also let down by pedestrian marking as Fournier got the start he craved.

But Reims grew into the contest and managed to draw level before half-time in fortuitous fashion.

Moukandjo was the beneficiary as Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes tried to palm the ball away in the 36th minute.

Lopes failed to get enough purchase on it and the former Monaco forward was in the right place at the right time to tap in.

The game tightened up after the interval, but Lacazette and Fekir worked well in tandem throughout and after one of their free-flowing moves Mohamed Yattara was inches from finding the net.

Lacazette was then able to celebrate the winning goal.

The 23-year-old forward picked up the ball on the right and unleashed an audacious attempt from an acute angle.

It looked like Placide should have turned the ball away at his near post and send Reims home having extended their unbeaten run to five matches, but he was caught off guard and ended up picking it out of his own net instead.
