Nabil Fekir grabbed a brace as Lyon breezed past Lorient 4-0 at the Stade de Gerland.

Lyon came into the match unbeaten in three games including a draw at the Parc de Princes last time out, while Lorient have only found the net in one game so far in what has been a worrying start to the season.

That trend continued on Wednesday evening in a game which also saw Alexandre Lacazette and Clinton N'Jie find the target.

Lorient won at Lyon last season in what has been their only success to date at Stade Gerland and after the worst possible start this time around, it was clear that that rare triumph was not to be replicated this campaign.

It took just five minutes for the hosts to hit the front. Moments after Benjamin Lecomte did well in the Lorient goal to keep out N'Jie's powerful effort, the visiting keeper was beaten when N'Jie found Lacazette on the edge of the area who finished clinically with a first-time shot.

Seven minutes later the lively N'JIe headed just over the bar after Christophe Jallet delivered from the right.

Raphael Guerreiro was first to go close for the visitors - his drilled effort from a tight angle in the left side of the area was turned around the post by Anthony Lopes.

However, six minutes before the break, the home side doubled their advantage.

Fekir played a one-two with Jallet on the right before breaking into the area and shooting from a tight angle and into the net.

Hopes of a Lorient recovery were quickly put to bed five minutes after the interval when N'Jie was played through by Jordan Ferri and the young striker fired an effort past the helpless Lecomte.

Fekir added his second of the game after 68 minutes after a pinpoint delivery from Corentin Tolisso found the unmarked 21-year-old who converted from close range.

Lorient came reasonably close to a consolation nine minutes from time but Mehdi Mostefa's 20-yard effort was turned over the bar by Lopes.
