Torino moved into sixth place in the Serie A standings thanks to a 2-0 home win over Udinese on Sunday.

Omar El Kaddouri opened the scoring in the 16th minute and Ciro Immobile, who had set up the opener, sealed the win with a second goal in the 57th.

The result left Torino five points adrift of fifth-placed Inter and saw Udinese slip to 15th spot, although still some 11 points clear of the drop zone.

Udinese had the first chance in the match as Luis Muriel lined up a free-kick from a dangerous position on the edge of the box, but sent it harmlessly over the bar.

However, it was Torino who got their noses in front six minutes later through Morocco international El Kaddouri, who got onto the end of Immobile's ball and scored with his left foot at the near post.

Roberto Pereyra tried his luck for the visitors shortly after the half-hour mark when he blasted over the bar from 30 yards, before Torino went close through Immobile twice - the striker putting the ball inches wide before forcing a great clearance from Thomas Heurtaux a couple of minutes later.

After the break, the Italy forward picked up where he left off by beating defender Heurtaux and firing a cross from the left, but Alessio Cerci was not able to find the touch needed from close range.

Cerci then launched a quick counter-attack and found Immobile, whose left-footed effort went just inches wide of the far post.

The play was all with the home side and it was no surprise when they doubled their lead through the dangerous-looking Immobile. Nikola Maksimovic found the striker with a great assist, who then fired into the net from close range.

Dusan Basta then went close with two efforts - one from close range and the other from distance - before Cerci almost wrapped up the win for Torino with a 30-yard strike which whistled past the near post, but there were no further goals.
