Yuri Zhirkov: Scored Russia's second goal in 2-0 win over Morocco
Russia enjoyed a 2-0 home win over Morocco in their final friendly before the World Cup, but coach Fabio Capello has injury concerns ahead of the trip to Brazil.
Goals from Vasili Berezutskiy and Yuri Zhirkov scored the goals in Moscow, but Denis Glushakov pulled a muscle in the warm-up and captain Roman Shirokov was unable to start due to injury.
Though Russia dominated possession, Morocco came closest to taking the lead in the 24th minute when the unmarked Omar El Kaddouri cracked a shot against the post.
But five minutes later, Russia were in front when CSKA Moscow defender Berezutskiy scored from close range after the ball bounced kindly into his path.
Russia had an opportunity to double their lead just before half-time when Alexander Kokorin managed to beat the offside trap, but dragged his shot wide with only the keeper to beat.
Capello made four changes at the break, but that did not seem to upset Russia's rhythm, with Kokorin squandering two further chances shortly after the restart.
Zhirkov made it 2-0 in the 58th minute when the ball fell to him following a poor clearance and the former Chelsea defender netted his first international goal with a fine finish.
Russia fly out to Brazil on Saturday before tackling South Korea in their first game in the World Cup on June 17 before also meeting Belgium and Algeria in Group H.
