Nacer Chadli: Added the fourth for Belgium
Romelu Lukaku blasted a hat-trick to lead Belgium to a 5-1 win over Luxembourg in a World Cup warm-up game on Monday night.
Lukaku's treble boosted his chances of being Belgium's main striker at next month's World Cup after Christian Benteke suffered an injury almost two months ago.
Belgium had gone four matches without a win but ended that run in fine style against their neighbouring minnows at Genk's Cristal Arena.
Chelsea striker Lukaku opened the scoring in the third minute, scrambled a second home in the 23rd and made it three with a solo effort in the 54th minute before being replaced on the hour mark.
"It was a good performance," said Lukaku. "What makes me happy is that we performed as a team."
Substitute Nacer Chadli added a fourth in the 71st minute and Kevin De Bruyne finished off with a penalty in the 90th minute.
Luxembourg had earlier equalised on 13 minutes through Aurelien Joachim's long-range strike.
Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj, who only chose to play for Belgium last month, made his debut as a second-half substitute.
"He gives us an extra dimension," said coach Marc Wilmots, but warned Januzaj was still far off getting his spot in the starting line- up. "He faces a lot of competition."
Belgium had Sammy Bossut in goal, who would normally be the fifth-choice keeper, but because of injuries and an extended rest for number one Thibaut Courtois, he had a winning debut.
Belgium play Sweden on Sunday and Tunisia on June 7 in their final warm-up games ahead of leaving for Brazil, where they face Algeria, Russia and South Korea in Group H.
