Joaquin Larrivey: On target for Rayo Vallecano in 3-2 win over Real Sociedad

Rayo Vallecano came from behind to beat Real Sociedad 3-2 away from home and claim an important victory in their fight for Primera Liga survival.

Sixth-placed Sociedad took the lead inside two minutes when a devilish free-kick from Ruben Pardo was glanced in by Inigo Martinez.

Vallecano's response was instant as Joaquin Larrivey was barged over in the area by Jose Angel after just four minutes and he got up to send the goalkeeper the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Pardo restored Sociedad's lead on the stroke of half-time when he produced a neat piece of skill to turn away from his defender and then his shot took a vital deflection to leave keeper Ruben wrong-footed.

Sociedad were again unable to stay in front for long, though, with Alberto Bueno equalising from close range in the 47th minute as Larrivey turned provider.

Ruben Rochina then made it 3-2 on 67 minutes with an excellent strike from the edge of the area into the corner after exchanging passes with Bueno.

Vallecano held firm in the closing stages to boost their survival hopes and dent Sociedad's chances of qualifying for Europe.
