Djibril Cisse celebrates the opening goal
Bastia secured their first away Ligue 1 win of the season on Tuesday evening with an impressive 3-1 victory over 10-man Toulouse at the Stade Municipal.
Djibril Cisse set the visitors on their way in the 11th minute with his first goal since joining in the winter transfer window and, although Eden Ben Basat pegged back Frederick Hantz's men 14 minutes later, Bastia were not to be denied.
Francois Modesto restored their advantage on the stroke of half-time and Toulouse's misery was compounded late in the second half when Clement Chantome was sent off for a second bookable offence before Gianni Bruno wrapped up all three points by converting a stoppage-time penalty.
The hosts almost made the perfect start when Daniel Braithwaite broke free down the right before picking out Dominik Furman, whose back-post header beat Jean-Louis Leca before rebounding off the right post back into the arms of Bastia's grateful goalkeeper.
However, if was the visitors from Corsica who took the lead soon after when former Liverpool striker Cisse hit a superb first-time shot beyond Zacharie Boucher from 20 yards for his 95th goal in Ligue 1.
Bastia's number 12 almost made it two in five minutes following a Boucher error, but Cisse's volley flew wide of the open goal.
That miss looked to have proved costly as La Tefece hit back. Braithwaite terrorised the visitors' defence again before finding Ben Basat, who was left with a simple diving header with Leca stranded in the visitors' goal.
The impressive Braithwaite continued to look lively and his effort from 20 yards ended up just the wrong side of Leca's post after the Dane had fashioned himself an opening.
Despite his efforts, though, it was Bastia who went into the break ahead. Julian Palmieri's corner was flicked on at the near post by Cisse, and Modesto was there to punish some lapse Toulouse defending.
TFC continued to huff and puff after the restart, but chances were at a premium. Ben Basat wasted their best opportunity when Uros Spajic crossed from the right only for the Tunisian to blaze the ball way over Leca's crossbar into the stands.
The hosts' night went from bad to worse on 75 minutes when Chantome was shown his second yellow card of the evening for a foul on Brazilian Ilan, and Bastia made sure of the points when Bruno scored from the spot two minutes into added time after Ben Basat had hauled down Wahbi Khazri.
