Bastia moved up to eighth in Ligue 1, their highest position of the season, with a confident 2-0 win over Evian at the Stade Arman-Cesari.

Second-half efforts from Milos Krasic and Wahbi Khazri were more than enough to see off a disappointing Evian side who are now without a win in three.

The hosts will now go into Wednesday's Corsican derby with Ajaccio in fine form having only tasted defeat once in their last six and a win there for Frederic Hantz's men could see them reach the dizzy heights of fifth.

Bastia began the game the livelier and had the crossbar been an inch higher Ryad Boudebouz would have given the hosts the lead with his shot on the turn after Gianni Bruno showed good skill in the area.

Hantz's team continued to press Evian and only a last-ditch Aldo Angoula challenge prevented Bruno from poking the ball into the back of the net from Khazri's teasing delivery.

The visitors offered a response and Marco Ruben almost fashioned a great opportunity inside the area after Youssouf Sabaly picked him out from the left, but former Arsenal defender Sebastien Squillaci got himself in the way to block the Argentinian's effort.

Evian's biggest chance of the half came five minutes before the break but they could not find a way past Mickael Landreau - who was making a record-equalling 602 league appearance, drawing him level with Jean-Luc Ettori at the head of the all-time list.

Firstly, the former Lille goalkeeper got a firm hand to Modou Sougou's close-range effort after Daniel Wass picked him out but, after failing to clear, Brice Dja Djedje was on hand to test Landreau once again, forcing the 34-year-old to save with his feet.

The hosts opened the scoring just four minutes after the restart. Khazri combined well with Boudebouz out on the left wing before delivering towards the near post where Angoula's touch played the ball into Krasic's path and the Serbian forward slotted the ball home from six yards.

Bastia then managed to get the ball in the back of the net for a second time but Khazri's effort was rightly chalked off for offside.

The impressive Boudebouz continued to torment the Evian defence and his clever delivery brought an acrobatic effort from Keseru which came back off the upright in stoppage time before they wrapped the points up with the last kick of the game.

Francois Modesto released Khazri in behind a sleeping Evian defence and the Tunisian kept his composure to round Hansen and roll the ball into an empty net.
