Monaco moved back to the Ligue 1 summit on Sunday night - but only on goal difference from Paris St Germain after being held to a 1-1 draw at Reims.

Joao Moutinho's fine free-kick got the visitors back on level terms in the 13th minute, cancelling out Antoine Devaux's fourth-minute header, but they could not force a winner - despite the 87th-minute dismissal of Reims defender Atila Turan.

Both goalkeepers pulled off some fine saves in the second half to ensure the spoils were shared, meaning Monaco finished the weekend top of the pile - albeit level on points with PSG, who overcame Toulouse 2-0 on Saturday.

The game got off to the perfect start for the hosts. Nicolas de Preville freed Turan on the left of the penalty area and he flicked the ball on for Devaux to head past Danijel Subasic from 12 yards.

The lead lasted only nine minutes, though, as Portugal midfielder Moutinho curled a brilliant free-kick in off the post.

Devaux could have doubled his tally midway through the first half but his volley from Grzegorz Krychowiak's corner was superbly saved by the flying Subasic.

Not to be outdone, Reims goalkeeper Kossi Agassa produced a decent stop of his own 12 minutes before half-time to prevent Lucas Ocampos from finding the target with a fierce 20-yard drive.

Monaco started the second half brightly, but were twice in quick succession denied by Agassa. First he slapped away a header from Layvin Kurzawa and then blocked Yannick Carasco's blast after good work by Ocampos on the right.

Subasic too had to be alert eight minutes after the restart, showing quick reflexes to scramble the ball clear after substitute Floyd Ayite's snap-shot had taken a deflection off Ricardo Carvalho.

The Croatian keeper was beaten just after the hour mark by a vicious 25-yard effort from Odair Fortes, but the crossbar came to his and Monaco's rescue.

Monaco substitute James Rodriguez fed Ocampos 15 minutes from the end but again Agassa came out on top.

The game ended on a sour note with Turan shown a second yellow card for a nasty tackle on Rodriguez, but there was not enough time for the visitors to make the extra man count.
