  1. The final whistle goes and United can celebrate a wonderful European night, having sealed their place in the Champions League last 16 with a 5-0 demolition of Bayer Leverkusen.

  2. Kohr is shown a yellow card for dissent after a foul in midfield, as three minutes of stoppage-time are signalled.

  3. 88

GOAL! Nani adds a fifth for United. Giggs guides a good pass forward but the Portuguese still has a lot of work to do as he expertly controls the ball and races past the onrushing Leno. It looks like the ball will beat him to the byline but he catches up and exquisitely flicks it back with the outside of his right boot from a tight angle to send it spinning into the goal.

  4. 86

United are really enjoying themselves with a lot of possession as the clock ticks down, while the final whistle cannot come soon enough for Leverkusen.

  5. 84

Anderson nearly makes an immediate impact with a fifth for United as he is presented with a chance to score after another flowing move, but in the end it is bad miss as he scuffs wide from the edge of the area.

  6. 82

Leverkusen's final change sees Bender substituted as Kohr enters the fray.

  7. 81

Rooney makes way for the closing stages, along with Valencia as Young and Anderson are brought on by Moyes.

  8. 79

Jones tries to get in on the act with an ambitious volley from a corner which he does not connect with cleanly, and Leno makes a routine save down to his left.

  9. 77

GOAL! Smalling adds more gloss to the scoreline with a fourth United goal. Kagawa picks out Rooney with a sublime chipped pass and the England striker lifts an unselfish pass over the onrushing Leno for Smalling to put the ball in from close range.

  10. 75

It has been a very well-rounded performance so far from United, as they look solid defensively and threatening in attack, with Rooney and Kagawa particularly sharp and Nani and Valencia also lively.

  11. 73

Castro delivers a decent free-kick following a foul by Buttner, but Bender's looping header fails to trouble De Gea as it lands on the roof of the net.

  12. 72

Kiessling shows good determination to try and shake off a couple of defenders in the United box and haul Leverkusen back into the game, but the door is shut in his face in the end by a strong Smalling tackle.

  13. 71

Leverkusen respond with a double change of their own, as Hegeler and Derdiyok replaces Reinartz and Son.

  14. 70

United make their first change of the night as Buttner comes on for Evra at left-back.

  15. 68

United do not look like they are finished yet as Rooney and Kagawa combine nicely once again. The two of them have really had a good understanding in attack tonight.

  16. 66

GOAL! Evans Puts United 3-0 ahead. Evra wins the initial header from a corner and Rooney forces Leno into a save with a shot which lacks power. Evans seizes on the loose ball and keeps it out of Leno's grasp before turning it in from point-blank range.

  17. 64

Valencia has so much space down the right-hand side as he latches on to a clever Kagawa pass and dinks in a cross which is headed away for a corner by Toprak.

  18. 63

Rooney has made two goals and now wants one himself, as he curls a nice-looking strike narrowly wide of Leon's right-hand post from 25 yards.

  19. 62

Valencia shrugs off Can down the right wing and cuts inside, but Leverkusen have numbers back and his cross is blocked.

  20. 60

Leverkusen almost grab a lifeline from a corner as Reinartz's near-post header takes a couple of ricochets and hits the bottom of the post. The rebound falls to Spahic but he is unable to squeeze it in from a tight angle with United defending desperately.
