Rangers made it 13 wins from 13 Scottish League One games this season as they strolled past Arbroath 3-0 at Gayfield.

The runaway leaders never looked back from Jon Daly's early goal, doing all the damage in the first 45 minutes and holding on with ease in the second despite some improvement from the outclassed home side.

It took Rangers less than three minutes to get their nose in front, with Daly in the right place to direct an Ian Black cross past Scott Morrison.

The pressure continued to build on the Red Lichties as the half wore on with Lee McCulloch heading a decent chance over before Rangers grabbed their second goal on 27 minutes.

There was a slice of luck for Ally McCoist's side, though, as Bilel Mohsni back-heeled Lewis MacLeod into a shooting position and his effort went in off Michael Travis's head and Bradley Donaldson's legs for an own goal.

Sebastien Faure, Nicky Law and Fraser Aird wasted chances to make it 3-0 but a third did come four minutes before half-time when Clark glanced a Lee Wallace free-kick past Morrison, already their 50th goal of the League One season.

Arbroath started the second period on the front-foot but creating clear-cut chances proved tough for them and Daly went close to adding a fourth for Rangers when his effort bounced to safety off the post.

But the home side remained competitive and almost grabbed a goal back with just over 20 minutes remaining, Lee Erwin's good work setting up teenager Christopher Scott for a shot that beat Cammy Bell but not the post.

Daly continued to trouble the Arbroath back-line and fired a decent chance over the bar before being denied his second of the night by a brave Travis block.

There were more chances for the impressive Wallace and Mohsni, who headed over the bar from close range, but no more scares as Rangers moved smoothly on to 39 points after 13 games, 11 points clear of Dunfermline with a game in hand.
