  2. 90

  3. 89

Sessegnon is the man to come off for Mandron.

  4. 88

Navas does superbly well down the right and shows his speed before crossing to Dzeko but the Bosnian cannot quite prod a finish.

  5. 86

Sunderland are ready to send on Mandron for the final minutes.

  6. 84

Larsson takes the free-kick low and past the wall but Pantilimon is alert and dives down to his right to palm the ball away.

  7. 83

It is a chance for Sunderland as Lescott gives away a free-kick on the edge of the City box in a central position.

  8. 81

The game is now limping towards its conclusion. City look happy with what they have got and the pitch means Sunderland are struggling to build any attacks.

  9. 79

Negredo's game is over as he heads off to be replaced by Barry.

  10. 77

Gardner to the rescue for Sunderland as he clears off the line from Navas after the City new boy had rolled the ball past Westwood. Good, covering defending from Gardner.

  11. 76

Sunderland make another change as McClean comes on for Giaccherini.

  12. 75

Nastasic is being stretchered off and replaced by Lescott. Nastasic looks like he has a serious problem and he could be another injury victim of this poor pitch.

  13. 72

Sunderland have a claim for their own penalty when Kolarov challenges Giaccherini. But replays show Kolarov clearly got the ball.

  14. 70

Sunderland win another corner in quick succession. Moberg Karlsson's delivery is deep to the far post and Pantilimon eventually claims. The goalkeeper did push Sessegnon a little bit.

  15. 69

After being let off at the penalty, Sunderland now have a chance to equalise as Wickham bursts into the box. But Kolarov just sticks out a leg to poke the ball behind for a corner. City defend the set-piece.

  16. 67

Dzeko is looking down at the pitch after his wretched penalty. The pitch cannot be completely blamed for that terrible effort.

  17. 66

Dzeko has the chance to double his and City's goal tally for the game as he steps up for the penalty. But it is a shocking miss as he scoops the spot-kick high and woefully wide.

  18. Fernandinho flicked the ball up inside the box and Ba clearly handled it inside the area to give City the spot-kick.

  19. 64

  20. 62

Fernandinho replaces Toure while Kolarov comes on for Clichy.

  21. 61

Moberg Karlsson comes on in place for former City player Johnson.

  22. 60

Zabaleta breaks forward from right-back and attempts to cross into the centre. But the ball takes a horrible bobble and the defender skews his cross behind the goal.

  23. 59

Larsson has his hands up in apology after overplaying a long ball towards Wickham, who has struggled to get into the game. Giaccherini had played the ball nicely to give Larsson some room.

  24. 58

Negredo finds himself face down in the mud in the centre circle after taking a whack when competing for a header.

  25. 57

Gardner meets the ball down the right and could have had a chance to cross but does not bring it under control and then lets it roll out for a goal-kick. That has summed up Sunderland's attacking.

  26. 55

Fans are cheering now after Nasri is brought down in the muddy centre circle.

  27. 54

The game has become very bitty. The pitch is in a wretched condition and is cutting up in the centre of the field, meaning both teams are having to go long.

  28. 52

Navas does very well to hold off two Sunderland defenders, keep his balance on the slippy pitch and then pass the ball to Toure.

  29. 50

Nasri is getting a bit of a mixed reception whenever he touches the ball. A few of the Tottenham fans still in the stadium following their earlier win over South China have not forgotten the Frenchman's previous association with Arsenal.

  30. 49

Johnson looks to latch onto a long ball forward but Nastasic does well to shield it and see it back to Pantilimon.

  31. 48

City are playing keep ball in the opening minutes of the second half. Their passing has been good in the terrible conditions.

  32. Sunderland have introduced Ba, Westwood and Wickham in place of Altidore, Mannone and Cabral.

  33. City have sent on Navas and Nasri in place of Milner and Silva.

  34. WE'RE BACK: Sunderland get the second half under way as they seek to overturn City's 1-0 lead.

  35. Dzeko's spectacular early goal gives City a deserved 1-0 lead at the break. Stay with us for the second half.

  36. 45 + 1

  37. 45

Colback fouls Milner down the right and gives City the chance to deliver the ball into the box on the stroke of half-time. Silva takes the free-kick and Gardner very nearly scores an own goal when heading the ball against his own post.

  38. 44

Negredo gives another demonstration of his strengths when barging two City defenders out of the way to force his way into the Sunderland box. Colback just about tackles Negredo to prevent the Spaniard from a shooting chance.

  39. 42

It is another free-kick to Sunderland on the right. Johnson has another chance to get his delivery right. It is another deep effort and Zabaleta can head away to the far touchline before City force Sunderland back.

  40. 40

Mannone does not take any chances when dealing with a back-pass from O'Shea and side-foots the ball out of play for a throw-in to City.

  41. 39

Giaccherini hits the target with a long-range shot but there is no real power behind the effort and Pantilimon can catch the ball when diving to his right.

  42. 38

Fans inside the stadium in Hong Kong let out a few groans as City play the ball backwards to their defence and then Pantilimon. Back-passes are a bit of a gamble in these conditions.

  43. 37

Zabaleta crosses from the right after a good overlapping run on Milner, who weights his pass well. But the cross does not find Dzeko.

  44. 35

Sunderland's passing is nowhere near as cutting as City's. Manuel Pellegrini's team look like they are capable of scoring every time they go forward while Sunderland are a little disjointed.

  45. 33

Corner to Sunderland on the right. Johnson curls the ball into the box and Pantilimon spills his collection. But Zabaleta can clear and Sessegnon was adjudged to have fouled Pantilimon.

  46. 32

Negredo lashes a half-volley just over the crossbar after being found inside the box by Dzeko. The ball was slightly behind Negredo and so he was leaning back, which meant his volley went high.

  47. 31

Fellow Spaniards Negredo and Silva already look like they have a very good understanding.

  48. 30

Negredo is playing on the shoulder of Sunderland's last defender every time. He hooks the ball into the back of the net from Silva's chipped pass but play had stopped for offside.

  49. 29

Dzeko launches a looping pass forwards towards Negredo but O'Shea makes an important defensive header to prevent the ball from reaching its target.

  50. 27

The wet conditions mean this is a very scrappy game. Passing in midfield is difficult but City are still showing signs of their ability to break forward at speed.

  51. 26

Larsson's free-kick is whipped in but headed away by the first line of City defenders. It drops for Johnson on his less-favoured right foot aroudn 25 yards from goal but he is crowded out before he is able to get away a clean shot.

  52. 25

Giaccherini and Sessegnon exchange a nice give-and-go and the latter manages to get behind the City defence but he cannot quite control the ball. Sunderland then win a free-kick wide on the left.

  53. 23

Sunderland are struggling to find a way past Manchester City's defenders. Altidore is holding the ball up well but does not seem to have the pace to beat the likes of Kompany.

  54. 22

Neither Brown nor Dzeko pull out of a challenge after the ball held up in the mud. Both players collide but are okay.

  55. 20

Free-kick to Sunderland wide on the right after Nastasic fouls Altidore when competing for a header. Johnson's inswinging set-piece is better than his corner but Pantilimon can punch the ball away on the edge of his six-yard box.

  56. 18

Corner to Sunderland after Giaccherini's curling shot deflects wide off Kompany. Johnson's set-piece is poor and is headed clear at the near post.

  57. 17

There is more mud and puddles than there is grass across the halfway line area of the pitch. It is easy to see why managers have been concerned about their players suffering injury.

  58. 16

Sunderland have a chance to move forward and have four men up in the attack but Johnson's attempted pass with the outside of is boot only finds a City defender.

  59. 14

Now it is Silva who breaks into Sunderland's box but he gets caught in two minds when trying to find either Milner or Negredo and he gives the ball away. The rain is continuing to hammer down.

  60. 13

Negredo should have made it 2-0 after being played in behind O'Shea's poor attempt at an offside trap by Silva. However, new man Negredo blazes over the crossbar from inside the box.

  61. 12

Sunderland have lost their composure since falling behind and City are enjoying themselves. Dzeko tries his luck from 20 yards but is bouncing shot is gather by Mannone.

  62. City had hardly passed the halfway line before taking the lead but they are now in front and it was a spectacular strike. Brown headed away Toure's chipped forward pass but it only fell to Dzeko on the edge of the box and he struck a stunning volley past Mannone.

  63. 9

    GOAL DZEKO (0-1)!!!

  64. 7

Another free-kick to Sunderland. This time it is wide on the right after Clichy gives away a handball. Johnson's delivery is deep before Zabaleta and Dzeko combine at the back post to defend a ins slightly untidy fashion.

  65. 5

Free-kick to Sunderland around 40 yards from goal in the inside left channel. Larsson curls the ball into the box but Brown's flicked header drifts well wide.

  66. 4

Sunderland are putting plenty of pressure on City. Last season's Premier League runners-up are trying to pass their way out from the back but Sunderland are not allowing them.

  67. 3

Nice build-up through the middle of the pitch from Giaccherini and Sessegnon sees Johnson beat Pantilimon to the ball on the byline. but Johnson's cross into the middle cannot find a team-mate.

  68. 2

Sunderland look like they have been told not to treat this as a friendly by boss Paolo Di Canio. His players are snapping into challenges in the early minutes.
