Spurs deservedly claim all three points without having to be at their best against Aston Villa. There was little between the sides in the first-half, but Andros Townsend's fluke opener gave Spurs a goal at a crucial time. Villa did not carry a threat until the arrival of Christian Benteke just past the hour, but Tottenham added a crucial second soon after through Roberto Soldado and it was a body blow that Villa never looked like recovering from.
