  1. Simple win for City then and Pellegrini couldn't have wished for a better start. Silva, Aguero, Toure & Nasri helped themselves to goals but it was Aguero and Dzeko up front who created real problems for Newcastle. Alan Pardew's men looked poor at most stages, which could be a worry for Geordies everywhere.

  2. 90

3 minutes stoppage time at the Etihad, it's been so comfortable for City.

  3. 86

A corner creates all manner of havoc in the Newcastle penalty area and a great save from a header simply leaves the ball to rebound to Negredo who sweeps home. However, he's incorrectly called offside.

  4. On comes Alvaro Negredo for his City debut, replacing David Silva.

  5. 80

The one blotch on City's night has possibly been the lack of goals for Dzeko. He's definitely deserved one, but another header goes just over.

  6. A Dzeko dummy really shouldn't have found Nasri first, but it did. The Frenchman was a couple of yards behind the defender but he snares the ball in front of him and finishes well past Krul.

  7. 73

Stunning ball from Navas to Dzeko but unfortunately it bounces just out of the striker's stride and Debuchy recovers well.

  8. The Belgian comes off to a rousing applause and is replaced by Javi Garcia in defence.

  9. 70

Worrying signs for City as Kompany tumbles over, looks like a possible groin problem.

  10. 68

The resulting corner finds the head of Dzeko, but he jumps a little too late and misjudges the header.

  11. 67

Navas is going to be trouble for a lot of defenders this season it seems. His run is marked by Silva but the cross is deflected out for another corner.

  12. Final change for Newcastle as Sammy Ameobi will replace Hatem Ben Arfa.

  13. 63

A powerful low strike from Dzeko is well-saved by Krul. You've got to feel for the Dutchman out there, he's had a great game.

  14. 63

Absolutely comical defending from Newcastle as Fernandinho flicks an over-the-top ball into the area and four City players are onto it, with no defenders in sight. Somehow though, the strikers all endeavour to waste the opportunity.

  15. Nasri replaces the excellent Aguero. Great shift from the striker.

  16. 57

The ball falls loose in Newcastle's penalty area and Gael Clichy is first onto it. The defender gears up to strike but it's defended well and out for a corner.

  17. 56

Navas looks dangerous down the right-hand side and his lightning turn of pace is creating huge problems for Newcastle, another cross goes just begging.

  18. 53

A lofted pass goes over the head of Newcastle's defence, unbeknownst to them a little Spaniard is on the end of it. Silva brings the ball down expertly but runs out of space.

  19. 51

And Toure takes it, curling it perfectly into the top corner. No chance for Krul and it's 3-0 City.

  20. 49

In the moments afterwards a free-kick was awarded to City about 20 yards out. Silva and Toure stood over it...
