Bundesliga strugglers Eintracht Braunschweig and Nurnberg remain inside the bottom three after taking a point each from a 1-1 draw at the Eintracht Stadion.

Adam Hlousek gave Nurnberg the lead against the run of play in the 28th minute with Emar Elabdellaoui replying in the 70th minute to earn Braunschweig their first point of the season, although they should probably have had all three.

Torsten Lieberknecht's side created the better chances and Nurnberg had goalkeeper Raphael Schafer to thank on numerous occasions.

Braunschweig started brightly and carved out an early opening for Karim Bellarabi, who was denied in a one-on-one situation by the legs of Nurnberg goalkeeper Rafael Schafer.

From a long ball forwards, Hiroshi Kiyotake found himself in a rare attacking position for the visitors, but he dragged his shot wide of the goal, perhaps too surprised to receive Nurnberg's first opening of the game.

The second Nurnberg chance resulted in a goal with Timothy Chandler's low cross from the right met by the determined Hlousek at the far post, giving the visitors a surprise lead.

The hosts showed a positive reaction, though, and a free-kick from Deniz Dogan almost sneaked inside Schafer's post - the Nurnberg custodian did well to push the ball behind for a corner.

Nurnberg could have doubled their lead instantly in the second half when Daniel Ginczek found a way through, but he appeared to be too confident of scoring as he placed his shot wide of the post with only Marjan Petkovic to beat.

Dominik Kumbela had a goal disallowed for the hosts when he turned Bellarabi's pass in from an offside position after the Braunschweig forward passed up the chance to take the shot himself.

The game opened up with chances falling at both ends. Kumbela stung the palms of Schafer before Elabdellaoui finally brought Braunschweig level with an arrowed shot into the far corner which was beyond Schafer's reach.

Braunschweig continued to press, but found in Schafer an insurmountable wall, meaning they had to settle for a draw, which was still their first point of the season.
