A late free-kick from Hiroshi Kiyotake earned Nurnberg a point in a 2-2 draw at home to Hertha Berlin. Josip Drmic gave Nurnberg the lead five minutes before the interval before Hertha drew level when Sami Allagui's shot took a huge deflection off Berkay Dabanli, before a disputed penalty converted by Ronny put Jos Luhukay's side in front. Nurnberg responded well and an unstoppable free-kick from Kiyotake earned them a second draw of the season at the death. Hertha made the brighter start with Anis Ben-Hatira causing the Nurnberg defence a whole host of problems. However, it was the home side who went closest to breaking the deadlock when Daniel Ginczek's header hit the outside of the post. That effort gave Nurnberg confidence and led to them taking the lead in the 40th minute through Drmic, who timed his run to perfection to nudge the ball low past the onrushing Thomas Kraft. Ben-Hatira had a few good chances to bring Hertha level before Allagui stepped forward and got lucky. He made a poor connection with his shot clipping his standing foot and sending the ball wide of the left-hand post. Dabanli got in the way and inadvertently changed the ball's direction, leaving his goalkeeper Raphael Schafer no chance. The defender seemed to be still rankling with the goal when he got caught out of position with Allagui teeing up Alexander Baumjohann, whose shot was saved by Schafer's foot. Baumjohann was put through on goal again soon after and, although Javier Pinola appeared to play the ball, the referee adjudged he had also got the player and pointed to the spot. Ronny, who had not been on the field all that long, sent Schafer the wrong way to put Hertha ahead. There was a sting in the tail of the game, though, and that was provided by Kiyotake. His free-kicks had caused problems in the first half and he decided to take the direct route with a shot which left Kraft no chance to earn Nurnberg a point.
