ADO Den Haag began life after Maurice Steijn with a creditable 0-0 draw away to title-challengers Vitesse Arnhem in a result which will have delighted the rest of the Eredivisie's leading pack.

Steijn was sacked by ADO on Wednesday after a 3-0 loss to Heracles Almelo - ADO's fifth defeat in six - and former assistant Henk Fraser stepped up to take charge of the team on Friday.

Although a draw is not enough to take them off the foot of the table, they move level on points with NEC Nijmegen and the value in confidence could be even greater.

Vitesse remain third overnight but could be caught by Feyenoord as the weekend's fixtures play out, and they could also find themselves seven points off the pace if Ajax win at PEC Zwolle on Sunday.
