Juan Arango is congratulated after his late equaliser
Stuttgart once again conceded in the final stages of a Bundesliga match as Juan Arango levelled late on to nick a 1-1 draw for Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Venezuelan's header looped past Sven Ulreich on 88 minutes after Stuttgart had led from the 12th minute through Daniel Didavi.
The Swabians have failed to turn a winning advantage into a victory more than any other side in the Bundesliga. If they had held on in those encounters, they could be as high as fourth in the standings.
Gladbach's point helped stave off what would have been a drastic blow to their hopes of a top-four finish. To the frustration of the home support, though, they trailed after just 12 minutes on home soil.
Timo Werner failed to get full power behind a deep cross but his mis-kick fell directly to Didavi, who finished sweetly with his left foot.
Stuttgart then had two superb chances to add to their lead at the end of the first period, with Werner forcing home goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen into a fine block before Didavi headed wide from Ibrahima Traore's cross.
The second half was a dull affair but played out, perhaps, exactly how the visitors would have hoped as they held a tactically-disciplined shape until the final minutes.
Gladbach coach Lucien Favre looked to inspire his side late in the game with a double switch, which saw Branimir Hrgota and Granit Xhaka replace Christian Kramer and Patrick Herrmann.
Traore, who will join the Foals in the summer from Stuttgart, almost capped a fine performance with a goal on 87 minutes from a direct free-kick which smacked the post.
And the miss came back to haunt Stuutgart in the final minutes when a high ball was met by Arango, who nodded past Ulreich to snatch a point for the home side.
