    PSG prove too strong

Paris Saint Germain claimed their second home win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Toulouse.

Paris Saint Germain's Marquinhos scored his first Ligue 1 goal of the season to help Laurent Blanc's men claim only their second home win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Toulouse at the Parc des Princes. Edinson Cavani came off the bench to add a second from the penalty spot with little over 10 minutes remaining, his third league goal of the season, as PSG reclaimed top spot until Sunday evening at least. Defeat for Toulouse leaves them languishing in mid-table as Alain Casanova's men failed to make it three league wins on the bounce following victories over Lorient and St Etienne. Both teams began the game in subdued fashion and it took 25 minutes for PSG's Zlatan Ibrahimovic to get a sight of goal. Adrien Rabiot picked out the Sweden international on the edge of the area but, under pressure from Steeve Yago, he dragged his shot on the turn wide of Ali Ahamada's post. In what was proving to be a less-than-inspiring opening 45 minutes Toulouse's Martin Braithwaite got a brief sniff of goal with just over half hour played but his effort was off target as the Parc des Princes crowd waited patiently for a first shot on goal. With half-time looming the home fans were finally given something to shout about when Blanc's men fashioned an opening from a set-piece. Thiago Motta swung a superb free-kick into the area and Marquinhos was there to score at the second attempt after Ahamada had initially made a great save to deny the Brazilian first time round. Toulouse responded well and only a last-ditch clearance off the line from Marco Verratti prevented a certain equaliser for the visitors from Aymen Abdennour's effort and PSG's lead remained intact at the break. The hosts came out looking for a second after the restart and Ibrahimovic went close with an effort from distance, which ended up in the side-netting, before Lucas Moura forced a good save from Ahamada with little more than an hour played. Blanc's men went even closer moments later but Adrien Rabiot's header direct from a corner came back off the upright with Ahamada soundly beaten before PSG doubled their lead with 12 minutes left to play. Substitute Cavani clashed with Uros Spajic in the area leaving referee Said Ennjimi with no choice but to point to the spot and the Uruguayan picked himself up to confidently despatch the penalty, sending Ahamada the wrong way in the process. There was still time for Toulouse to have a goal controversially ruled out in injury-time for offside but the current champions had already done enough to claim all three points.
