Marseille were held to a second consecutive Ligue 1 draw in the goalless contest at Bastia.

Marseille were held to a second consecutive Ligue 1 draw in the goalless contest at Bastia. Corsica was a happy hunting ground for L'OM last season, but a side whose 100 per cent start to the campaign was ended in a loss to Monaco at the start of the month dropped points for a third straight game on the back of last week's draw with Toulouse. A point a piece seemed a fair result in a match which saw both teams strike the frame of the goal, with Bastia bossing the first half and Marseille the second. Bastia were a whisker away from taking the lead in only the third minute when Milos Krasic cracked a shot off the crossbar. Jordan Ayew found the side-netting with Marseille's first chance but it was the hosts who enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges, with Steve Mandanda punching clear a shot from Ilan in the 14th minute before denying Krasic after a mazy run which took him past Alaixys Romao and Rod Fanni. The Marseille goalkeeper was at full stretch again in the 31st minute to block a curling free-kick from Claudiu Keseru. Mathieu Valbuena sent a free-kick over for Marseille as half-time neared, but it was after the break that they would enjoy their best chances. Sebastian Squillaci did well to block Fanni's close-range header in the 47th minute before Florian Thauvin lashed a volley narrowly wide. Mickael Landreau, playing in his 593rd Ligue 1 game to move into third place on the all-time appearances list, then did well to block Lucas Mendes' header as time began to run out. Marseille came as close as they would to scoring in the 82nd minute when Andre-Pierre Gignac released Andre Ayew, whose shot crashed back off the post.
