Cedric Bakambu shows his frustration.

Sochaux and Ajaccio played out a goalless draw at Stade Auguste Bonal to leave both clubs still without a win in Ligue 1 this season.

The home side will feel they should have got more from this match having had the majority of the chances, but some wayward shooting and stubborn Ajaccio defending made for a frustrating evening.

The draw leaves Sochaux second from bottom in the table, two places and one point below Fabrizio Ravanelli's Ajaccio.

The signs were there for Sochaux after 15 minutes when Julien Faussurier's cross fell perfectly for Cedric Bakambu, but his close-range volley was smothered by goalkeeper Francisco Ochoa.

Bakambu had another chance moments later, this time from a header following Roy Contout's flick on, but once again Ochoa was on hand to clear the danger.

The forward tried to make amends after 23 minutes, latching on to a pass from Sebastien Roudet only to fire wide of the target this time around.

Contout and Bakambu combined once more in the 36th minute, with the latter producing a low shot which was turned off the line by defender Laurent Bonnart.

Things continued to go against Bakambu, who cut a frustrated figure at the interval when his latest attempt, a 20-yard drive, was also held by Ochoa.

Vincent Nogueira had Sochaux's next chance at the start of the second half with a left-footed volley which eluded Ochoa and also the left post.

Ajaccio had been hanging on by their fingertips so far but managed to carve out an opening of their own after 61 minutes, when Chakhir Belghazouani beat a path through the home defence before hitting a shot which was held by Simon Pouplin.

The Sochaux goalkeeper was soon called into action again when Benjamin Andre's through-ball teed up Paul Lasne for a curling left-footed effort from 20 yards which had to be palmed away.

That was as good as it got for Ajaccio, but their opponents fared no better as one last-ditch attempt from Roudet was claimed once more by Ochoa.
