Evian moved off the bottom of Ligue 1 with a shock 2-1 win over Lyon - the hosts' first ever league victory over Les Gones.

Despite Jordan Ferri's second-half strike, a first-half Kevin Berigaud brace was enough to inflict a second consecutive surprise defeat on Remi Garde's men following their 1-0 loss at home to Reims last week.

The visitors missed out on the three points which would have sent them top until Sunday, when leaders Marseille host third-placed Monaco, but an early-season loss of form will be the biggest concern for Garde.

Pascal Dupraz's men started the brighter and took a deserved lead after just six minutes when Berigaud beat Bakari Kone and Miguel Lopes for pace before confidently sending the ball beyond Anthony Lopes.

Having scored against Lyon last year in the same fixture, Cedric Barbosa almost repeated that feat just moments later when he was gifted a glorious opportunity by Daniel Wass but the midfielder fluffed his lines.

The visitors continued to struggle and it wasn't long before Evian doubled their lead just after the half-hour mark following some poor defending.

Wass' clever ball took Miguel Lopes and Milan Bisevac out and Berigaud had all the time in the world to double his tally with his right foot after being left by his marker Kone.

Lyon's afternoon got worse shortly before the break when Yoann Gourcuff left the field clutching his hamstring and the visitors went off at half-time two goals down.

Remi Garde sent his side out for the second half with more intent and that move paid off when the visitors pulled a goal back after 48 minutes.

Jordan Ferri picked the ball up 30 yards from goal and smashed a right-footed screamer beyond Bertrand Laquait into the top corner with the aid of a slight Olivier Sorlin deflection.

The visitors continued to press and Yassine Benzia thought he had a penalty after being tugged back by Jonathan Mensah but referee Clement Turpin was having none of it.

Lyon's Ferri almost ruined his side's hard work in the second half when he squandered possession to Modou Sougou but Anthony Lopes came off his line to block the Senegalese striker as he tried to to dribble round the Portuguese keeper.

Despite upping the tempo though, Les Gones struggled to break down the hosts' defence in the final minutes and boss Garde was left to reflect on two difficult weeks in Ligue 1.
