Rangers' 100% winning run came to an end in dramatic fashion against Stranraer at Ibrox.

The League One leaders looked on their way to a 16th successive victory after Lee McCulloch fired them ahead from the penalty spot shortly after the half-hour mark.

However, Jamie Longworth stunned the Ibrox crowd into disbelieving silence with an equaliser deep into injury time.

Ally McCoist's League Two champions took the game to the visitors from the off and only a last-gasp intervention by Mark Docherty prevented Jon Daly opening the scoring.

Left-back Lee Wallace was next to try his luck but his powerful shot, after a trademark run into the box, was blocked by keeper David Mitchell.

Wallace tried his luck again soon after but his effort sailed wide of Mitchell's goal and moments later the keeper pulled off a stunning save at full-stretch to push Lewis MacLeod's goal-bound shot over the crossbar.

With the home fans becoming increasingly anxious, Rangers were awarded a 37th-minute penalty after Frank McKeown was judged to have brought down Nicky Clark and Gers skipper McCulloch gave Mitchell no chance from the spot.

The goal failed to dampen Stranraer's spirits and Andrew Stirling saw a long-range shot slip narrowly wide early in the second period.

Minutes later Andy Little came on as a substitute for his first appearance since breaking his jaw in early November and he almost made an immediate impact.

The Northern Irishman looked odds-on to double the home side's lead but failed to connect fully with Daly's pass and the chance was lost.

Nicky Law came within the width of the crossbar of adding the elusive second just minutes later before Stirling drew a smart save from Cammy Bell with a curling free-kick at the other end.

Rangers' fans could only watch in amazement as David Templeton squandered a glorious chance to ensure their precious record remained intact when firing over the bar just seconds from the end.

And the miss proved costly as Longworth lashed home from six yards in added-on time much to the delight of the ecstatic travelling support.
