Kris Doolan: His last-gasp goal secured a point for Partick

Kris Doolan grabbed a last-gasp equaliser to rescue a 1-1 draw for Partick and deny St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright a victory on his return to the dugout following illness.

Wright, who missed two matches having been taken to hospital two weeks ago and having an operation on his gallbladder, watched his side take the lead on eight minutes when Stevie May's shot beat Paul Gallacher to the keeper's right with the aid of a lucky deflection off Thistle defender Lee Mair.

But Partick responded well with Prince Buaben forcing Alan Mannus into a smart low save before Chris Erskine headed just over from Gary Fraser's sweeping cross.

The on-loan Dundee United midfielder then threatened with a driving run only to see his shot drift wide, before the hosts threatened again on 20 minutes - Lee Croft stinging the palms of Gallacher as May's header from the rebound cannoned back off the bar.

Partick continued to dictate the tempo of the game, but again St Johnstone came closest to a second goal, with Gallacher doing well to deny Steven MacLean following a long ball over the top.

Still the visitors pressed and Erskine went close before Frazer Wright threw his body in front of Gary Fraser's powerful drive.

But Mannus was finally beaten with just seconds left when Doolan's low drive from the edge of the area found the net for his first goal in 15 games.
