Reaction from the Scottish Premiership as Inverness Caledonian Thistle drew 1-1 with Dundee United.

Inverness and Dundee United played out a 1-1 draw in their Scottish Premiership clash at the Caledonian Stadium, although both sides had opportunities to collect three points.

Billy McKay's fifth-minute opener for Inverness was cancelled out shortly afterwards by Keith Watson, before the hosts missed a second-half penalty, while United also hit the woodwork twice.

In a good old-fashioned, end-to-end contest both teams found the back of the net during a hectic opening 10 minutes.

First, McKay was on hand to turn the ball home from six yards after Gary Warren had headed on a Danny Williams corner.

However, Watson quickly levelled matters for the visitors when he powerfully headed home Gary Mackay-Steven's corner.

And United came mighty close to taking the lead in the 23rd minute as Brian Graham crashed an effort against a post from the edge of the six-yard box.

At the other end McKay's header, from Aaron Doran's cross, was brilliantly tipped over by keeper Radoslaw Cierzniak who also denied Nick Ross a few minutes later.

The second half saw a more passive start before the hosts conjured up the first big opportunity in the 59th minute when Warren flashed a header inches off target from close range.

Inverness then missed a great chance to reclaim the lead shortly afterwards when a Ross penalty was saved by Cierzniak following a trip by John Souttar on Graeme Shinnie.

United midfielder John Rankin lashed a long-range shot wide before Chris Erskine side-footed a 12-yard effort against the right-hand post with keeper Dean Brill beaten.

Finally, with 92 minutes on the clock, Doran hit the side-netting to leave the hosts with just a single point from their last four home league games.
