James Constable: Pushing for a start

James Constable: Pushing for a start

Team news for Saturday's League Two clash between Oxford United and Accrington Stanley at the Kassam Stadium.

Oxford could recall James Constable to their starting line-up for the visit of Accrington.

The long-serving striker was left out of the XI that lost 1-0 at Scunthorpe on Monday in favour of David Connolly, only to be introduced as a half-time substitute in a match where boss Gary Waddock was left cursing his side's lack of cutting edge.

There could also be starts for the likes of Fulham loanee Ryan Williams and Andy Whing at the Kassam.

Waddock has overseen just one win and five losses in the six matches since taking charge and the U's have taken just six points from their last 13 games, leaving them needing a minor miracle to make the play-offs.

On-loan attacking midfielder Lee Molyneux will be assessed ahead of Accrington's trip to Oxford.

Molyneux, borrowed from Crewe, picked up an unspecified injury in training last Sunday and missed the 1-0 defeat at Southend.

Stanley boss James Beattie will run the rule over the 25-year-old on Friday morning and see if he can take part in training. Should Molyneux come through that fitness test okay, Beattie would have a full array of options at his disposal.

With two games of the season remaining Accrington are four points clear of the bottom two and are five places above Northampton in 23rd place.
