Luke Prosser's stoppage-time header secured Southend United a dramatic 2-1 win against York City at Roots Hall.
Prosser nodded home Ben Coker's right-wing free-kick three minutes into time added on to secure a fourth successive win for Phil Brown's side. Prosser's late winner came after both teams had seen their earlier goalscorers sent off. Kevan Hurst, who fired the Shrimpers in to a sixth-minute lead with a well-struck angled shot, was dismissed after being shown a second yellow card for pulling Ben Davies' shirt in the 58th minute. Meanwhile, Ryan Bowman, whose low 16-yard shot had brought York back level two minutes before Hurst's red card, was also dismissed by referee Darren Sheldrake four minutes from time for a mistimed lunge. Southend then made that dismissal count just seconds from the end when Prosser rose high to nod his second goal of the season into the bottom left-hand corner of the net from six yards.
