Louis Thompson: Scored only goal of the game

Brentford's League One promotion party remains on hold after Louis Thompson fired Swindon to a 1-0 win.

On the day Wolves went up to the Championship, Thompson's strike, which condemned the Bees to only their third defeat in 23 games, means they will have to wait.

The Robins were under the cosh for large chunks of the game but should have taken an early lead when Alan McCormack fouled Alex Pritchard in the penalty box. However, Michael Smith saw his penalty brilliantly saved by David Button.

Jonathan Douglas headed against the upright for Brentford but just before half-time Thompson pounced on a Douglas slip to give his side the lead.

Chances flowed in a pulsating second half but neither Nathan Byrne for the hosts or Alan Judge and James Tarkowski for the away side could hit the back of the net.

Swindon goalkeeper Wes Foderingham produced a superb one-hand save to deny substitute George Saville late on.

To compound Brentford's misery influential midfielder Adam Forshaw picked up two yellow cards in the space of 90 seconds and was sent off after 66 minutes.
