Milan Lalkovic: Playing his final game for the Saddlers

Team news ahead of Wednesday's League One clash between Walsall and Sheffield United at the Banks's Stadium.

Milan Lalkovic is expected to return for the Saddlers on New Year's Day.

The on-loan Chelsea striker missed Sunday's 2-2 draw at Gillingham having sustained a foot injury at Bristol City on Boxing Day.

The encounter against the Blades is Lalkovic's final game of his six-month loan stay before his current agreement expires on January 4, although boss Walsall Dean Smith is keen to strike an extension to keep hold of the Slovakia Under-21 international.

The likes of Troy Hewitt, Julian Gray and Nicky Featherstone are also among those pushing for recalls should Smith opt to freshen up his ranks.

United manager Nigel Clough is expected to name an unchanged starting line-up at Walsall.

Clough has no new injury or suspension worries as his side bid to extend their unbeaten run to nine matches in all competitions, but striker Shaun Miller is still struggling with the knock that kept him out of Sunday's home win against Tranmere.

Jose Baxter scored his fourth goal in five games at the weekend and is expected to partner Chris Porter up front again. Lyle Taylor is heading out on loan to Partick Thistle.

On-loan defender/midfielder Aidy White has returned to parent club Leeds for treatment after spraining his ankle in the Boxing Day draw with Oldham.
