James Vaughan (R) drew a blank against Grant Hanley and Blackburn

Blackburn's Jordan Rhodes and Huddersfield's James Vaughan, the respective top scorers, failed to find the target as this Sky Bet Championship clash ended in a 0-0 draw.

In a game of few chances, neither Vaughan nor Rhodes could add to their tallies of seven and six respectively, as the Terriers made it three games since they last tasted defeat, though it continues their winless run at Ewood Park which dates back to 1986.

Most chances came in the first half, with Adam Hammill's header forcing a fine save from Jake Kean, and Rhodes headed over when unmarked against his former club.

The draw leaves Blackburn without a win in three matches.

Both sides made a single change from their midweek exploits. Chris Taylor came in for Ben Marshall, while Huddersfield started Jazz Richards in place of Sean Scannell.

The first chance came after three minutes when Richards harried Josh King before releasing Hammill whose curling effort whistled just over.

Vaughan has been in red hot form of late and saw a header crash back off the bar moments later only for the offside flag to go up.

Both sides showed the confidence expected from teams who have started solidly and Blackburn went close soon after when Tom Cairney was allowed to maraud forward before unleashing a 25-yard drive that flashed wide.

The biggest talking point of the half came after 26 minutes when Hammill dribbled past Tommy Spurr and belatedly went down in the area. The Terriers thought they should have had a penalty but the referee's assistant thought otherwise.

Rovers were lamenting a chance falling to a defender rather than a forward minutes later when Scott Dann's knock-down found Spurr, who blasted over.

Huddersfield scrambled the ball away for a corner following neat interplay between Corry Evans and King and Cairney's corner was thumped over the bar by Dann at the far post.

But Rovers were indebted to their goalkeeper after 34 minutes when Jonathan Hogg's floated cross was met by Hammill's flicked header and was destined for the bottom corner but for Kean's outstretched left hand.

Blackburn's best chance of the half fell to Rhodes after 38 minutes who was left all alone to meet Cairney's testing cross but he somehow headed over from 12 yards.

Chances were hard to come by in the second period but Chris Taylor almost broke the deadlock after 65 minutes when he surged in from the right only to jink back onto his right foot before curling a lob just over the bar.

Hanley's late intervention thwarted Vaughan and Huddersfield defended resolutely but neither could create a clear cut opportunity.
