  1. Thanks for joining me this afternoon and for all your emails and Tweets - do stick around for all the post-match reaction and interviews.

  2. Congratulations to Crystal Palace though, they are back in the big time thanks to a goal from 39-year-old Kevin Phillips - the script was perhaps written for the evergreen forward.

  3. Joy and despair at either end of Wembley stadium as Palace fans celebrate and Watford supporters drift away, despondent.

  4. 120+1

FT: Crystal Palace 1 Watford 0 - Crystal Palace are promoted to the Premier League.

  5. 120+1

Alumina's long kick deflects off a Palace defender and goes just wide for a corner.

  6. 120

One minute to be added on.

  7. 120

Off the line!!! Great close control by Forestieri in the area, his shot is goalbound, but Ward heads it off the line!!!!

  8. 118

Watford are screaming for a penalty as Ward blocks Battocchio's shot - looked like the ball hit his chest rather than arm though so good decision by the referee. Abdi then fires another shot well over the bar.

  9. 116

Gabbidon does well to hold off Battocchio and hit the ball clear.

  10. 114

Abdi takes it but the ball is easily saved by Speroni.

  11. 113

Deeny goes down under a challenge by Moritz. Free kick Watford 30 yards from goal.....

  12. 111

Speroni is brave to collect the ball down low at the far post.

  13. 110

Hogg gets down the right and wins a corner off Delaney.

  14. 108

Ward's cross is overhit and goes out for a goal kick to Watford.

  15. 107

Zaha finds Phillips with a wonderful long pass but the veteran striker can't quite get in a shot.

  16. 106

The second half of extra time is underway....

  17. No arguments about the penalty, it was a clumsy tackle by Cassetti. Palace are 15 minutes from the Premier League.

  18. Half time in extra time: Crystal Palace 1 Watford 0

  19. Kevin Phillips, in his fourth play-off final, against his old club, slams the ball into the top corner! What a priceless goal that could be!!!

  20. 105

    Goal for Crystal Palace!!! Phillips!!

  21. 105

Cassetti trips Zaha in the box, the ref points to the spot!!

  22. 105

    Penalty to Crystal Palace!!

  23. 104

Dean Moxey is booked for a late challenge on Forestieri

  24. 103

Delaney is ok to carry on as Palace win a free-kick over on the left as Cassetti fouls Zaha. The set piece comes to nothing though.

  25. 100

Delaney collides with Forestieri and goes down holding his head, play briefly stops as he gets some treatment. You can feel the tension around the stadium now.

  26. 99

Battocchio has a shot from distance but it is straight at Speroni.

  27. 97

Palace deal with the corner easily though and clear.

  28. 97

Ward tries to put a cross in from the right but it is deflected behind for a Palace corner.

  29. 95

Forestieri fires a shot from a tight angle into the side netting.

  30. 93

Great save Julian Speroni! The ball falls to Deeney in the six yard box but Speroni's outstretched hand pushes the ball away from the Watford striker.

  31. 91

    Watford kick off extra time

  32. I agree Charlie, he has been excellent today - plus he saved Anthony Knockaert's penalty in the semi-final too.

  33. The Championship's two top scorers couldn't find a goal in 90 minutes of tight and tense football - to extra time we go.

  34. 90+3

FT: Crystal Palace 0 Watford 0

  35. 90+3

Jedinak rises highest from the corner but Almunia saves diving to his left.

  36. 90+2

Zaha has the chance to win it but he elects not to go for the early shot, allowing Doyley to get in the block.

  37. 90

Three minutes will be added on.

  38. 89

Cristian Battocchio hesistates as he breaks into the area and is drawn wide, he manages to cross it in towards Deeney though, but his overhead kick goes well over.

  39. 86

Change for Watford: Ikechi Anya is replaced by Fernando Forestieri.

  40. 84

Sub for Palace: Andre Moritz is on for Owen Garvan.

  41. 83

Another top save from Almunia!! Zaha feeds a nice ball into Wilbraham but his low shot is saved by the feet of the Watford stopper.

  42. 81

Ward is booked for a cynical late challenge on Pudil.

  43. 80

More fantastic defending from Doyley as he manages to scramble the ball away from Wilbraham.

  44. 78

I think both sets of fans realise how important a goal would be now, it's a rousing atmosphere at Wembley.

  45. 77

Alex Geijo tries to play in Deeney but his neat pass is intercepted. Not really happening for Watford so far this half.

  46. 74

Sub for Watford: Cristian Battocchio replaces Nathaniel Chalobah.

  47. 73

Zaha again causes trouble down the right, but his cross is headed away by Doyley - both of those players have been excellent this afternoon.

  48. 72

Garvan collects Phillips' far post knock-down, but his volley goes a few yard wide.

  49. 71

19 minutes left plus stoppages, can one of these teams muster a dramatic winner?

  50. 70

O'Keefe catches Doyley late on the ankle. O'Keefe has already been booked, but the ref lets him off with a warning. The free-kick then comes to nothing.

  51. 68

Troy Deeney is down for Watford holding his ankle, which gives everyone a chance to draw breath. Palace are well on top at the moment, with Watford looking nervy at the back.

  52. 66

Sub for Palace: Kevin Phillips is on for Williams.

  53. 66

Almunia saves again!! Nearly a disaster in the Watford defence as they let the ball squirm through to Wilbraham, whose close range effort is blocked.

  54. 65

Great save Almunia!! Zaha beats the offside trap down the left, cuts back and plays in O'Keefe, whose low drive is blocked by the Hornets 'keeper.

  55. 63

Kevin Phillips is warming up on the touchline - could be the ideal man to turn to in this situation.

  56. 61

As you can probably guess, things are starting to warm up now......

  57. 60

O'Keefe is also booked for kicking the ball at Abdi in retaliation.

  58. 60

Almen Abdi is booked for a late tackle on Stuart O'Keefe.

  59. 59

Great chance for Palace as Aaron Wilbraham finds himself clean through, but he hesitates, allowing Palace defenders to get back and his shot is blocked.

  60. 58

Doyley suddenly finds himself at the other end of the field, but he scuffs his shot and Palace can clear - there were better options for the Hornets defender then,

  61. 55

Williams tries to chase a long ball over the top but Doyley does well to hold off the Palace man and let the ball go through to Almunia.

  62. 54

The game is looking a lot more stretched now, is the opening goal on its way?

  63. 52

Mile Jedinak seems to be struggling with an injury too, he is trying to run if off though.

  64. Half time substitution news by the way: Matej Vydra picked up a knock in the first half and has been replaced by Alexandre Geijo - a blow to Watford that.

  65. 48

Nathaniel Chalobah has a shot from distance but it goes well wide of the left post.

  66. 46

Palace get the second half underway....

  67. 'Sky Bet still make Watford the favourites to win at 2/1 in normal time with Crystal Palace 5/2 but extra-time is now considered most likely at 11/10. Matej Vydra is considered the favourite to break the deadlock and is available at 13/2 to do so in their half-time price boosts, while no goals in 90 minutes is now 2/1.'

  68. The game is there to be won though, maybe some half-time tinkering will result in a more exciting second half.

  69. Well, it is perhaps no surprise given the size of the prize on offer, but these two teams have cancelled each other out so far. A fear of losing perhaps?

  70. 45+3

Half time: Crystal Palace 0 Watford 0

  71. 45+3

It's a fairly tepid end to the half, both sets of players look keen to get into the dressing room.

  72. 45

Three minutes of time will be added on at the end of the first half.

  73. 41

Jonathan Hogg nearly finds Abdi in the area but a Palace boot just deflects the ball away from the Watford man.

  74. 40

Stuart O'Keefe looks for Zaha in the area but it goes out for a goal kick - sums up the half that.

  75. 38

Nathaniel Chalobah puts in a teasing cross from the right but no-one is in the middle to convert.

  76. 34

Jedinak heads away Abdi's corner - the defenders are on top so far.

  77. 33

Matej Vydra gets his first sniff of goal when the ball breaks to him on the edge of the box but Damien Delaney gets in a wonderful tackle to block the shot for a corner - top defending that.

  78. 30

Julian Speroni fumbles at Abdi corner, but a Palace defender is able to clear.

  79. 29

Jedinak is the first Palace player to go into the book for a clumsy collision with Abdi

  80. 25

Palace have definitely had the better of things in the last few minutes but neither 'keeper has been tested so far. Still plenty of time for that to change though.....

  81. 23

Zaha is a useful out-ball for Palace but on this occasion the pass towards the powerful forward has too much on it and the ball goes out for a throw.

  82. 21

Wilfried Zaha bursts down the right flank again, gets into the area and tees up Owen Garvan, but his shot is well blocked by Lloyd Doyley.

  83. 19

We hear that it is a calf problem for Dikgacoi.

  84. 17

Sub for Palace: Stuart O'Keefe on for Kagisho Dikgacoi.

  85. 16

It looks like Dikgacoi will have to come off. The exact injury doesn't look clear, but he is clearly devastated to come off so early in the game.

  86. 16

Dikgacoi is back to his feet but still doesnt look comfortable, this may be worse than first thought.

  87. 16

There is a break in play as Kagisho Dikgacoi goes down holding his face, it looks like he will be ok though.

  88. 14

Almen Abdi bursts into the area but Mile Jedinak gets in a great interception to prevent the Watford man from crossing the ball in.

  89. 10

Joel Ekstrand is booked for a late lunge from behind on Aaron Wilbraham.

  90. 10

A Palace free-kick into the penalty area is easily claimed by Watford 'keeper Manuel Almunia.

  91. 09

Wilfried Zaha skips down the right flank for Palace, holding off two Watford players, but he can't quite stretch to get the cross in before the ball spins out of play.

  92. 08

Watford have probably edged it in terms of possession so far, but it's all in the centre of the pitch.

  93. 05

It's a cracking atmosphere at Wembley, both sets of fans getting right behind their team. No chances to speak of as yet though.

  94. 03

Troy Deeney is fouled by Danny Gabbidon in the centre circle, free kick to Watford.

  95. 02

Daniel Pudil cuts inside and looks to get in a shot, but a Palace leg just gets an interception in and the Eagles can clear.

  96. 01

Nathaniel Chalobah looks for Ikechi Anya out wide, but the pass is over-hit and goes out for a throw-in to Palace.

  97. 01

Watford get us underway, hold onto your hats people.....

  98. The two teams come out to a rapturous reception at a gloriously sunny Wembley.

  99. The players are in the tunnel, not long to go now.....

  100. Holloway seemed equally relaxed speaking a few moments ago, this is his third play-off final in four years, having experienced victory in 2010 and defeat in 2012, both with Blackpool.

  101. 'Enjoy the moment' will be boss Gianfranco Zola's final message to his players before they take to the pitch. Easier said than done I imagine!

  102. In case you were wondering, the referee this afternoon is Martin Atkinson.

  103. Seven of Watford's starting 11 are on loan, with six of those from either Udinese or Granada - clubs co-owned by Watford owners the Pozzo family. The Hornets' use of the loan system - all within Football League rules - irked Ian Holloway earlier in the season, will he have another pop should Palace lose today?

  104. It's all smiles as Ian Holloway meets Gianfranco Zola on the Wembley turf - will we be treated to another Holloway dance if Palace win? His celebratory jig in the changing rooms after their win at Brighton became an internet hit.

  105. 'Watford and Crystal Palace were the Championship's two highest scoring sides in the regular campaign, making over 2.5 goals a likely winner at 10/11. Watford's Matej Vydra is the favourite to open the scoring, but Crystal Palace's Wilfred Zaha is well backed to make his mark on his final game for the Eagles before his big move to Manchester United - he's 5/4 to score in 90 minutes and 7/1 to grab a brace in normal time, while Wilfred Zaha is 12/5 to score anytime in his farewell appearance for Palace.'

  106. Now that the teams are in, here is what our friends at SkyBet have to say about the game......

  107. Watford subs: Bond, Hall, Briggs, Yeates, Battocchio, Geijo, Forestieri

  108. Palace subs: Price, Richards, Ramage, Bolasie, Phillips, O'Keefe, Moritz

  109. Watford: Almunia; Doyley, Ekstrand, Cassetti; Anya, Chalobah, Hogg, Abdi, Pudil; Deeney, Vydra

  110. Palace: Speroni, Ward, Gabbidon, Delaney, Moxey, Jedinak, Dikgacoi, Garvan, Williams, Zaha, Wilbraham

  111. Breaking team news: Two changes for Watford while Palace are unchanged - full teams coming up.....

  112. I agree, Liam, Vydra could be a game-changer today. He hit 22 goals in the regular Championship season.

  113. These two sides also met in the 2006 play-off semi-finals, with Watford winning 3-0 at Selhurst Park before securing a goalless draw on their own turf to secure a place in the final.

  114. Watford meanwhile will be playing in this game for the third time and will be buoyed by the fact they have won both their previous Championship play-off finals - against Bolton in 1999 and Leeds in 2006.

  115. Palace are set to play in their fourth play-off final and first since 2004. Back then they beat West Ham 1-0 at Cardiff to go with wins in 1989 and 1997. Their only play-off final defeat was against Leicester in 1996.

  116. We will bring you the teams as soon as we have them but for now, why not have your say? You can email me or send me a Tweet @Tom_Mallows. I'll do my best to post your views.

  117. Palace meanwhile had to edge past bitter rivals Brighton and after a tight and tense goalless first leg, Manchester United-bound Wilfried Zaha hit a brace at the Amex to send the Eagles soaring to Wembley.

  118. Watford came very close to going up automatically before being forced to settle for third place. They then earned a spot at Wembley in the most dramatic of circumstances - Troy Deeney's last gasp goal edging the Hornets past Leicester.

  119. A lot is said about the amount of money at stake in this game, with figures ranging from £60-£120million. But lets just say the immediate future of the winning club will be transformed by earning a place in the top flight.

  120. Hello and welcome to minute-by-minute commentary of the Championship play-off final, with Crystal Palace and Watford chasing a place in the Premier League.
