Alex: Hoping to celebrate winning the title

Paris Saint-Germain defender Alex has only one objective in mind going into this weekend's action - the Ligue 1 title.

PSG travel to Lyon's Stade Gerland knowing they can secure the silverware, leading as they do by seven points with only three games remaining.

Indeed, success may be assured before they even kick off should their only remaining challengers, Marseille, lose to Toulouse this afternoon.

Alex, though, is focused solely on his side's match against hosts who themselves are still firmly in the hunt for second place.

"It will be a difficult match because Lyon hope to qualify for the Champions League," the Brazilian told

"We know the difficulties which await us but we are focused and we will do all we can to start the match well and win the game.

"We want to achieve our aim; the title."

The 30-year-old has won titles in England and Holland, with Chelsea and PSV Eindhoven, as well as with Santos in his homeland.

And faced with the prospect of adding France to that list, he said: "It is as important and significant as winning any league. Being champion stays with you for life.

"It is something to tell your family and your children about, that is why the French title is as important as the English one, for example.

"The whole team are excited at the thought of being 'sacred'."

Compatriot Lucas Moura will miss the match as he is back in Brazil receiving treatment on an injury, while Thiago Silva, Marco Verratti and Salvatore Sirigu are all suspended.

Thiago Motta and David Beckham are back in consideration for coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Lyon have no confirmed absentees, though coach Remi Garde is monitoring the progress of Dejan Lovren, Lisandro Lopez, Alex Lacazette and Rachid Ghezzal. Jimmy Briand and Anthony Reveillere are also back in training.

Les Gones trail second-placed OM by four points and have both Nice and St Etienne waiting behind them to pounce on any slip-ups in the chase for the three Champions League places.

And Garde told his club's website: "It's a very important match.

"PSG could be champions before playing, after or later. Us, we have to win to have our destiny in our own hands.

"If PSG are champions before playing, I am not sure it would be an advantage for us. I remember when Lyon were in the past and they did not relax."
