Bodin: Pushing for a start

Bodin: Pushing for a start

Team news ahead of Tuesday's League Two clash between Devon rivals Torquay and Exeter at Plainmoor (kick-off 20:00).

Martin Ling has no fresh injury concerns as he looks to end a five-game winless run.

Striker Ryan Jarvis made a goalscoring return to action in the defeat at Burton on Saturday after a month out with a cracked rib and punctured lung while centre-back Brian Saah started after serving a three-match ban.

Winger Billy Bodin returned to action as a second-half substitute having not featured since Boxing Day due to an ankle injury which further boosts manager Martin Ling's options ahead of the clash with the club where he began his career.

Ian Morris (Achilles tendon) and Lloyd Macklin (broken metatarsal) are the Gulls' only injury absentees for a match which was originally due to take place on December 22 but it was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Torquay now sit in 16th place in League Two, only seven points clear of the relegation zone, but they have lost just two league games at home this season.

Exeter boss Paul Tisdale could name an unchanged line-up as his side look to move within five points of leaders Port Vale.

The Grecians ran out 3-0 winners against fellow promotion hopefuls Southend on Saturday to move into the top three in League Two for the first time since September ahead of the trip to face former player Martin Ling and his Torquay side.

New signing Myles Anderson was an unused substitute against Paul Sturrock's side on Saturday and is set to be in the matchday squad once more along with homegrown winger Jake Gosling who impressed on his full debut for the club as a second-half substitute.

Liam Sercombe (ankle) remains City's only long-term absentee after Spanish striker Guillem Bauza came through a behind-closed-doors friendly with Cardiff unscathed last week.

Top scorer Jamie Cureton will serve the final game of his three-match ban for a first-half red card against Wycombe and will be available to face his former club Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

The Grecians have the third best away record in the division ahead of the short trip to Torquay, the only match in the division on Tuesday.
