Kieron Dyer's first goal for QPR earned them a 1-1 FA Cup draw with West Brom

Kieron Dyer grabbed a last-gasp equaliser as QPR drew 1-1 with West Brom in their all-Premier League FA Cup third round tie at Loftus Road.

The Baggies had already beaten QPR in two league meetings this term and, having triumphed 2-1 at Loftus Road on Boxing Day, they looked set to depart triumphant again when Shane Long scored with 11 minutes left, only for Dyer to level with his first ever goal for the R's.

QPR made a bright start to the tie and Esteban Granero's corner almost crept into the net before Adel Taarabt's shot crashed into his team mate Ji-Sung Park.

However, West Brom quickly found their feet and Gabriel Tamas and George Thorne were both off-target with efforts from outside the box.

James Morrison then shot straight at Julio Cesar and the QPR goalkeeper was called into action again five minutes later, keeping out a Long effort from distance and getting up to deny Romelu Lukaku, who had latched onto the rebound.

At the other end, Taarabt launched a trademark run at the heart of the defence but his shot was easily saved by Boaz Myhill.

However, the visitors were soon in the ascendancy once again and Cesar, who had a fine game, did really well to keep out Lukaku's close-range header before Morrison was inches wide, having got on the end of a Lukaku cross following fine work from Long.

But the R's had the last chance before half-time, Stephane M'bia unleashing a powerful drive from 25 yards out which only narrowly missed the target.

The ever-dangerous Lukaku shot just wide in the first minute after the break while DJ Campbell was back in the QPR side after a loan spell at Ipswich and should have done better than head Park's cross over the bar two minutes later.

Morrison then made room for himself with a nice bit of skill but volleyed into Cesar's arms and Billy Jones then shot well over the bar as the Baggies continued to look dangerous without getting the breakthrough.

West Brom lost Zoltan Gera and substitute Marc-Antoine Fortune to injury and the latter's replacement Jerome Thomas brought Cesar into action with a weak low shot 15 minutes from time.

But the visitors did find the net with 11 minutes to play, Rangers repeatedly failing to clear until the ball fell to Long at the back post, his shot deflecting into the corner of the net off Nedum Onuoha, leaving Cesar with no chance.

However, the hosts went in search of a leveller and earned a replay at the Hawthorns on 16 January in dramatic fashion, the oft-injured Dyer popping up to guide a close-range volley past Myhill with the final kick of the match.
