Fortuna Dusseldorf continued their recent revival with a thumping 4-0 win over 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

Crushing win for Dusseldorf over Frankfurt

Fortuna Dusseldorf continued their recent revival with a thumping 4-0 win over 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. The visitors struggled after the first-half dismissal of Karim Matmour, with Stefan Reisinger and Oliver Fink putting Dusseldorf ahead by the break and Rafael and Axel Bellinghausen adding further goals in the second period. The result sees Norbert Meier's side extended their unbeaten run to three games, while Frankfurt have now lost two in a row and taken just five points from seven games. Fink and Andreas Lambertz missed early chances for the hosts before they were given a helping hand when Matmour picked up two yellow cards in the space of seven minutes to reduce Frankfurt to 10 men 11 minutes before the break. Dusseldorf took the lead just four minutes later when the lively Leon Balogun gave Reisinger possession in the midfield and he did the rest, dribbling his way forward before beating Kevin Trapp with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area. It was two four minutes later when Reisinger's cross found its way to Fink, who beat Sebastian Rode and then picked his spot in the bottom left-hand corner from nearly 25 yards. It was a case of damage limitation for Armin Veh's visitors after the break but they could not even get that right as Rafael added a third in the 58th minute. Balogun was again the provider with a cross from the right which somehow found its way to Rafael on the edge of the six-yard box and he bundled the ball over the line. Bellinghausen then wrapped up victory for the home side five minutes from the end as he pounced on a deflection inside the penalty area to whip the ball home.
