Paris St Germain remain top of Ligue 1 on goal difference from Marseille after they managed to secure a 1-1 draw at Montpellier despite having to play with 10 men for 80 minutes. Mamadou Sakho was given a straight red card for pulling down Gaetan Charbonnier as last man after just 10 minutes. However, it was PSG who went ahead nine minutes before half-time through Maxwell. Reigning champions Montpellier levelled through Remy Cabella 13 minutes after half-time before they too were reduced to 10 men when Younes Belhanda was sent off for his second yellow card with 26 minutes left. PSG had the first chance of the game when Guillaume Hoarau had a header in the six-yard box that was blocked by goalkeeper Geoffrey Jourdren. Just two minutes later and Sakho was sent off but there was little immediate response from Montpellier. Souleymane Camara's header was repelled by Salvatore Sirigu in the home goal but it was then PSG who went ahead. Jeremy Menez led a powerful counter-attack on the right before releasing Maxwell on the left of the area and the Brazilian fired powerfully to the top corner of the goal. Menez almost doubled the lead two minutes before the break but Jourdren got down well to his low shot. Sirigu then kept out Remy Cabella's curled shot before the same player equalised for the hosts after 58 minutes. Cabella pounced as Blaise Matuidi lost the ball on the left and fired in from the edge of the area. However, just six minutes later and Montpellier were too reduced to 10 men, Belhanda sent off following a second booking for handball. Jourdren repelled Menez's shot while Sirigu managed to thwart Emmanuel Herrera at the death.
