AEL Limassol completed an otherwise forgettable Europa League campaign by claiming the notable scalp of a much-changed Marseille. Late goals from Edmar and Dossa Junior confirmed a night to remember for the Cypriots after Orlando Sa fired them into a 41st-minute lead. AEL had taken just a single point in Group C before tonight but with OM also unable to qualify, and showing 10 changes, the opportunity for an upset loomed large. Comoros international Kassim Abdullah was the only Marseille player to keep his place from the weekend win over Brest as boss Elie Baup sought to give his youngsters a European run-out. There was still a place for Loic Remy, though, but the France striker was a peripheral figure as AEL set about ending their European adventure on a high. Paulo Sergio busied himself early as he created a hat-trick of openings inside the opening 20 minutes only to fire each off target. Remy had little to feed off and when he did get his chance on the half-hour he mishit a shot from the edge of the area. AEL kept on pressing and were eventually rewarded four minutes before half-time when once-capped Portugal international Sa headed Edmar's inswinging corner home. The hosts maintained their dominance after the break although they had to wait until the final 11 minutes to confirm victory. Edmar made it 2-0 on 79 minutes when he headed in Chris Dickson's cross from close range and three minutes later the game was AEL's. This time Edmar turned provider as his corner picked out Junior to head in from six yards.
