QPR v Reading preview

QPR and Reading will both be looking to rediscover a winning feeling when they meet in the third round of the Capital One Cup.

Ferdinand and Bosingwa missing; Dyer could start

Queens Park Rangers and Reading will both be looking to rediscover a winning feeling when they meet in the third round of the Capital One Cup. The Premier League pair occupy the bottom two places in the top flight after failing to record a victory in their opening matches of the season. Both overcame lower league opponents to reach this stage of the League Cup, with QPR defeating Walsall and Reading edging out Peterborough. And although they are likely to rotate their squads, respective managers Mark Hughes and Brian McDermott will want further successes to breed confidence for the Premier League. Defender Anton Ferdinand will be missing for QPR due to the centre-back's hamstring injury.

Recovery

Jose Bosingwa suffered a similar problem in Sunday's loss to Tottenham Hotspur and is unavailable. Armand Traore (leg), Andy Johnson (knee) and Fabio (hamstring) are also all injured but Stephane Mbia and Adel Taarabt are available after recovering from fitness problems. Kieron Dyer may start his first match since the opening day of last season after impressing as an early substitute at White Hart Lane. Reading's Mali winger, Jimmy Kebe, could make his first appearance of the season after recovering from a hamstring problem and coming through a practice match unscathed. Jason Roberts (calf) and Adam Federici (knee) are the two players unavailable to McDermott, although the former could return at the weekend against Newcastle United.
