Darren Fletcher: Could feature in Romania as he continues his comeback
Manchester United will be hoping to match the success of their last visit to Romania when they take on CFR Cluj.
Two Wayne Rooney penalties gave United their only away win in last season's UEFA Champions League campaign, against FC Otelul Galati.
The talismanic England striker is available for his first appearance in European action this season having recovered from a badly gashed leg that kept him out for a month, including the win over Galatasaray.
This is Cluj's third time in the Champions League group stage, and they will be keen to build on their excellent away win over Braga two weeks ago as they look to progress to the knockout stage for the first time.
Cluj manager Ioan Andone was in charge of Dinamo Bucharest when they lost to United in a 2004/05 Champions League qualifier, and as a player he has also lost out to Ferguson, playing in a Romania side beaten 3-0 by Scotland when the then-Aberdeen manager was in temporary charge of the national side in 1986.
Ferguson may turn to Darren Fletcher, who played in the home leg of that win over Dinamo eight years ago, after the Scot's return to fitness following a chronic bowel problem.
United's failure to progress beyond last season's group phase still hurts and they will be wary with their group this time around looking as benign as the one they failed to negotiate last year.
Nemanja Vidic, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young are all out with injuries, while Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick do not travel due to illness. Paul Scholes has been rested.
Cluj team news
Striker Pantelis Kapetanos is expected to be available after successfully coming through an evening training session 24 hours before the match.
Cluj beat ACF Gloria 5-1 on Saturday, but Andone says he may not make too many changes to his side.
He said "There will be changes because we had a game on Saturday, but not too many, because my players are used to a certain set-up."
