Struggling Siena ground out a goalless draw with Parma in a lethargic Serie A meeting at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Parma dominated possession but could not make it count despite an enthusiastic performance from Amauri, while Siena could live to regret two dropped points in their quest for survival with Innocent Emeghara uncharacteristically wasteful.

The first half would never really get going but Emeghara and Amauri enjoyed the best opportunities as time elapsed in Tuscany.

The young Swiss was all alone in front of Antonio Mirante when he scooped the ball high over the bar before Sotiris Ninis saw his screamer punched away by Gianluca Pegolo at the other end.

On the half-hour mark Amauri failed to make a proper connection with Nicola Sansone's ball into the box and the latter was then guilty of a woeful miss from close range.

Amauri and Sansone soon weaved forward to try again but the Italian's header was instantly forgettable.

A fine move between Alessandro Rosina and Jorge Teixeira sent Emeghara through in acres of space but this time Mirante snatched up the loose ball.

Parma dominated the build-up to the break, though, and Amauri needed just a little more conviction to tuck away Jonathan Biabiany's cross just before the whistle.

If Massimo Gobbi's cross had flown a little lower when play resumed, the Brazilian might have profited when Siena were caught cold.

Sansone's finish on a deft Gobbi pass went wide soon after and Emeghara almost took advantage to beat two men and whip the ball just past a post.

Marco Parolo almost hurt his own team when losing possession in the middle, but Rosina ruined the move after Angelo had surged forward.

Sansone did find the net in the 72nd minute, only to be flagged offside, and Emeghara was too tired to produce a convincing shot from the right side of the Parma box as time ticked away.

Substitute Ishak Belfodil threatened to inject some life into the Gialloblu forward line but neither side had anything left at the final whistle.
