Paloschi is the hat-trick hero

Alberto Paloschi heaped the pressure on Genoa coach Luigi Delneri with his first ever Serie A hat-trick earning Chievo an impressive 4-2 win in Liguria. All three of Paloschi's goals came in the first half with Ahmed Said's reply not saving the Rossoblu from a drone of whistles at the interval. Bosko Jankovic pulled a goal back in the 56th minute but, after being reduced to 10 men following the showing of a red card to Marco Andreolli, Adrian Stoian scored a fourth to keep the Flying Donkeys soaring and leave Genoa in the thick of the danger at the foot of Serie A. Chievo were gifted the chance to take an early lead by Mario Sampirisi, who pulled Paloschi down inside the penalty area, earning a yellow card after the referee pointed to the spot. Paloschi himself stepped up to send the ball low past Sebastien Frey, who got a touch to the ball, but not enough to keep it out. Paloschi grabbed his and Chievo's second eight minutes later when he beat the offside trap to race clear and beat the onrushing Frey with a low angled shot into the far corner. Only a quarter of the game had been played and already the home fans were beginning to lose faith in their side with the first murmurs of discontent heard from the stands inside the Stadio Luigi Ferrraris. They were placated a little in the 40th minute when Said headed in Andrea Bertolacci's corner to score his first goal in Serie A. However, the home team's joy was short lived as Paloschi completed his hat-trick on the half-time whistle with an unmarked header past Frey, signalling another crescendo of whistles from the home fans. Genoa emerged with a much more positive approach and they were rewarded in the 56th minute when Jankovic brought them back into the game. The Rossoblu captain controlled a cross from Ciro Immobile, which had been headed on by Said, and his shot took a slight deflection on its way past Stefano Sorrentino. Genoa were now in the ascendency and a red card for Andreolli, who picked up a second yellow card in the space of two minutes, gave the home team hope. However, as they sent men forwards in search of an equaliser, they were caught out on the counter attack by Stoian, who was on hand to turn the ball in after Bojan Jokic's shot was only parried by Frey.
