Sevilla came from behind with 10-men to claim a 1-1 draw from the first Andalusian derby of the season at Granada.

The visitors had goalkeeper Diego Lopez sent off just after the half-hour mark when he upended Antonio Floro Flores inside the area and, despite his replacement Andres Palop saving Guillherme Siqueira's penalty, Mikel Rico rattled in the rebound to give Granada the lead.

However, Alvaro Negredo headed home a minute before the break to bring Sevilla level and Michel's side defended relatively comfortably in the second half until a late flurry from the hosts saw Darwin Marchis head two golden opportunities over and Floro Flores hit the crossbar.

After a bright opening by both sides the turning point appeared to have arrived on 34 minutes when Floro Flores was played through on goal and was brought down by Lopez as he tried to round him.

The Italian striker certainly exaggerated the contact as he flopped to the ground, but there was contact and Lopez had to see red having denied a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Palop made a smart save to his right to repel Siqueira's powerful spot-kick but his defence didn't react and Rico was left free to fire in the rebound.

The hosts should have then put the game to bed in the following five minutes as Palop was forced into saves from Floro Flores, Youssef El-Arabi and Fabian Orellana, while Floro Flores also missed a great chance as he poked wide on the stretch from Jaime Romero's fabulous cross.

And they were to rue those misses moments later as Piotr Trochowski's brilliant cross found Negredo and, after his first effort was well saved by Tono, he reacted quickest to head in the rebound.

Granada failed to generate the same flow in the final third after the break and Trochowski could have even put Sevilla in front with 18 minutes remaining but he spooned his shot over after good wing play from Jesus Navas had freed him inside the area.

The onslaught from the hosts finally arrived in the final five minutes, though, as Marchis somehow headed over from two fantastic crosses from Rico and Orellana, before Floro Flores saw his powerful header come back off the top of the bar.

The draw maintains Sevilla's unbeaten start to the campaign, while Granada are still waiting for their first win under new manager Juan Antonio Anquela.
